Life After – March 2020

further consults may be via phone…interesting to say the least

01/03/2020 (Sunday) – Pins and Needles/Goosebumps (whatever) feels like a gizzillion ants crawling over my body, the intensity brought tears to my eyes, makes me want to rip my skin off.
Really weird the way it comes and goes.
Try to rub away the effect with my hands – to no avail.
Resort to more self talk…bugger off PNs-Ants.

02/03/2020 (Monday) – Pins and Needles (PNs) not as intense today – mainly hands and fingertips. Fingertips feel like they have little hairs all over them and catch on material – like when you have a paper cut on your finger tip that catches on wool or nylon only a hundred fold…weird as!

05/03/2020 (Thursday)  Met with CEO – Hancock Agriculture (my employer) to discuss some outstanding work issues and he re-affirmed that Hancock Agriculture still want my services albeit in a part-time capacity and committed to ensuring that the HR Manager will provide me with an ammended contract/process/requirement by COB next Friday.

Interestingly he told me that there was very little damage to my lungs as a result of my past smoking and that the positive response to the treatment was due to the fact that I was pretty fit prior to treatment.

Phoned my young brother Wayne this evening and stated that I had heard he had a heart issue.

His response was that his life had been put on hold for three years as he needed his heart recalibrated…WTF.

Apparently he caught some sort of infection when he and his wife Debbie were on a cruise to New Caledonia which caused one side of his heart to beat faster than the other (atrial fibrilation) as in 600 times faster??

He was being treated in the Canberra Hospital and wasn’t satisfied with the outcomes of his treatment and ended up going to Sydney for treatment where he underwent surgery to have each of the valves in his heart “adjusted” to get his heart beating normally…a five to six hour procedure apparently.

Turns out his surgery was performed on the 31/12/2019, same day I was diagnosed with cancer.

08/03/2020 (Sunday) – Went into Port Adelaide today to check out the Wall Art around the city precinct.
Sandy and I walked around the area to find the murals, really enjoyed the day.

Felt knackered when we got home and towards the end of the evening started to get chest pain when breathing (like heartburn) and headache returned, needless to say the pins and needles (marching ants) were still doing their thing.

Atrial Fibrillation – abnormal heart beat
Port Adelaide Wall Art – Fantastic initiative

11/03/2020 (Wednesday)  Soles on my feet have started to sweat excessively when standing or in contact with solid surfaces (Peripheral Neuropathy ??). Burning/itchy feeling between the toes and where the toes join the foot. I have always been very particular about foot hygiene i.e. always washed between toes and more importantly dried between them.
So I am really pissed about this “new” side effect, Julia described the feeling “like having your socks scrunched up between your toes and where the toes join the foot“…spot on!

12/03/2020 (Thursday) – Sandy and I met with Dr. Vinod Aiyappan (Lung Specialist) today and thanked him for organising all the tests, etc after my initial diagnosis.
We discussed how I was responding to the treatment. Interestingly he told me that there was very little damage to my lungs as a result of my past smoking and that the positive response to the treatment was due to the fact that I was pretty fit prior to treatment.
